Sustainability | 2030 Agenda

THE AGENDA

17 Goals for People,
for Planet

The Sustainable Development Goals are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and improve the lives and prospects of everyone, everywhere. The 17 Goals were adopted by all UN Member States in 2015, as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which set out a 15-year plan to achieve the Goals.
Today, progress is being made in many places, but, overall, action to meet the Goals is not yet advancing at the speed or scale required. 2020 needs to usher in a decade of ambitious action to deliver the Goals by 2030.

ISG GREEN NEWS

The Municipality of Genoa awarded us this year’s special mention and plaque for excellence in innovation toward sustainability in recognition for our consistent engagement and original contributions toward sustainability, with special attention to our student-led flagship projects:

Il mare comincia qui/The Ocean Starts Here: our battle against cigarette butt based ocean pollution, networking with a local and global partnership (1 cigarette butt pollutes 1000 liters/1m3 of water and cigarette butts represent 40%-almost half of all ocean pollution).

Our upcycling lab with its many-pronged initiatives: upcycled bags, outfits and custom jewelry for the Circular Value Forum Eco-fashion Show, contribution to the making of the scenario for the Finding Nemo musical, toy making workshop for Early Childhood, and so much more.

Our feasibility study for a possible ISG transition to solar energy.

Our water purification international collaborative project: in agreement with the Acquario di Genova and Costa Edutainment we invited 4 outstanding research centers in water purification (PUB Singapore, STAM Genoa, UniGe and IIT) to use the Aquarium and water parks as research sites to integrate each other’s insights and to improve water culture and management in general.

We take great pride and encouragement in this public recognition of the way ISG trains students to study, understand issues and take concrete action to make things better.

ISG AS AN
ECO SCHOOL

We are an ECO SCHOOL since 2021.
The Eco-Schools programme is an ideal way for schools to embark on a meaningful path towards improving the environment in both the school and the local community while at the same time having a life-long positive impact on the lives of young people, their families, school staff and local authorities.
